Time and projects
- Time tracking by project
- Each team member picks the project before they start working. Hours always stay tied to the right project.
- Breaks
- The team member marks their own breaks. Break time never counts as work time.
- Idle detection
- When the agent detects no activity, it asks the team member whether to keep or discard that time. The decision is never automatic.
Screen visibility
- Multi-monitor screen captures
- One capture every 10 minutes, on every monitor. The company decides the interval.
- Foreground apps and windows optional
- Logs which application and window title were open. The company can turn this off at any time.
Activity, not content
- Activity level
- Measures whether there was mouse and keyboard movement in each interval. It is not a keylogger: it never records what was typed.
Technical reliability
- Local queue in the agent
- Sessions are stored in SQLite on the team member's own computer. With no network, no logged time is lost; it syncs on its own once the connection is back.
- Status icon in the tray
- Always visible: recording, paused, or stopped. The team member always knows what is happening.
Reports and team management
- Reports by project and by person
- Cross-reference hours, captures, and activity by project or by team member, whenever you need to account for them.
- CSV and PDF export
- Download the report in the format you need: CSV to work with the data, PDF to archive or send it.
- Email invitations with roles
- Invite team members by email and assign the right role: owner, manager, or member. Each role sees only what it should.
Trust and compliance
- Immutable captures
- No capture can be deleted by a member, a manager, or the account owner. Only the company's own retention policy removes it.
- Audit log
- Whenever someone views another person's captures, who saw what and when is automatically logged.
- Configurable retention
- Set how long data is kept. When the period ends, it is actually deleted.
- Self-hosting optional
- Install ClockWitness on your own company's infrastructure, if you'd rather keep the data in-house.
